Express Entry: Canada actively seeks qualified individuals to contribute to its economy and society. The Express Entry system manages applications for four primary immigration categories: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP).
Federal Skilled Workers
The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) enables individuals with at least one year of skilled work experience to apply for permanent residency. Candidates must meet minimum requirements in education, skilled work experience, and official language proficiency. Applications are assessed using a comprehensive ranking system that evaluates factors including age, adaptability, and the presence of a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.
Federal Skilled Trades
The Federal Skilled Trades Program operates through the Express Entry system and targets individuals seeking permanent residency based on their qualifications in skilled trades. This program facilitates the integration of experienced tradespeople into Canada’s labor market, addressing critical skills shortages in various sectors.
Canadian Experience Class
The Canadian Experience Class provides a pathway to permanent residency for temporary foreign workers and international students who have gained Canadian experience. Candidates benefit from their existing familiarity with Canadian society and demonstrated ability to contribute to the economy. Applicants must possess proficiency in English or French and relevant Canadian work experience.
Provincial Nominee Program
The Provincial Nominee Program offers multiple application streams, each tailored to specific provincial or territorial immigration needs. Candidates must first receive a nomination from a Canadian province or territory based on the region’s economic priorities and the applicant’s genuine intention to settle there. Following nomination, applicants must submit a separate application for permanent residence to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which is then evaluated according to federal immigration standards.
